fewer of和less of的用法说明

 

Fewer和less分别是few和little的比较级形式。要了解less和fewer的区别，就请记住名词有可数不可数之分。

fewer of+pl.[c](only)只能跟可数名词复数

less of+[u]/s.[c]大多数情况下跟不可数名词或者可数名词的单数

less of+pl.[c]=fewer of+pl.[c]当less of后面跟可数名词的复数时，其用法等同于fewer of

Because natural gas is composed mostly of methane,a simple hydrocarbon,vehicles powered by natural gas emit less of certain pollutants than the burning of gasoline or diesel fuel.

选项分析：

 

首先，我们来看这句话的后半部分，D第一个排除，是拿两个名词词组比较，does完全没有意义

然后区别在于用不用定冠词，用的话是用the还是those

those=vehicles使得比较对象同类，所以要用定冠词those，排除了选项A，B，C

剩下E选项，pollutants是可数名词的复数，也符合lessof的语法用法

所以最后答案为E
